Fort Frederica
Fort Frederica, the southernmost outpost of Britain's territorial claims in North America from 1732-1776 and the southern tip of the United States 1783-1814. The fort was a key part of the Georgia Colony's reason for being - as a military buffer to protect wealthy Charleston from the ravages of Spanish Florida.
This picture is taken looking down the remains of a broad avenue with houses and shops on either side. National Park Service historical markers on either side tell the story of these houses and who lived there. A few of the National Park Service markers can be seen on the right side of this image.
